The other week at uni we had a skype call with Jack Latham where he spoke about his photo-books Pink Flamingo and Sugar Paper Theories.
It was interesting to hear how he began research on a topic he found interesting and that changed and developed his ideas into his final outcome. It’s a process of research, discovering and interest. There’s not much point in beginning or carry on with a project on a topic that you’re not interested in.
He described the photography world as been a lame version of Hollywood, you need to be genuine and honest with people, especially people you want to photography.
Not only did he speak about his photo-books but also Miniclick and his printing business Dive Bar Printing. He was very honest and spoke about taking on jobs, especially commercial jobs are often needed in order to fund your personal projects that don’t make a lot of money.
